When Maurice Steger performs with the La Cetra Barockorchester Basel, the joy of music-making is combined with virtuosity. Con Passione – with passion – is the name of the programme put together exclusively for Klosters Music. As with the moving concert in St. Jacob’s Church in summer 2022, the Swiss recorder player and conductor has invited Spanish soprano Nuria Rial to perform special vocal music alongside brilliant instrumental concertos by Antonio Vivaldi and Arcangelo Corelli. Rial’s melodious voice captivates with its unmistakable timbre. The passionate “Lamento della Ninfa” by Claudio Monteverdi arouses great emotions. The two arias “Lascia la spina” and “Tu del ciel” from Georg Friedrich Händel’s oratorio “Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno” are of intimate, fragile beauty.
