“One of the most brilliant organists of his generation”, says the press about Benjamin Righetti, who is the titular organist of the Saint-François church in Lausanne and teaches at the local conservatory (HEMU). At this concert weekend he will be there both as a brilliant soloist and as a charismatic teacher. In his recital on 12th September, Righetti will devote himself entirely to the Bach cosmos: from the simple, inward-looking chorale arrangement of “Our Father in the Kingdom of Heaven” (BWV 682) to the magnificent, extroverted Concerto in D minor originally composed by Antonio Vivaldi (BWV 596). Complex masterpieces such as the Prelude and Fugue in E minor BWV 548 and the Passacaglia in C minor (BWV 582) can also be heard.
On the following day, you can experience a free master class for students and get an exciting glimpse behind the scenes. Aspects such as the correct registration of the Goll organ, stylistically appropriate interpretation and technical finesse will all play a role in these lessons. During guided tours of the church and organ as well as lectures, St Jacob’s Church will become a place of exchange.
