Buy ticketsYou need a vast space for Anton Bruckner’s music for it to unfold all its beauty. His sounds are like Gothic cathedrals: powerful, uplifting, soaring. With “Tota pulchra es”, “Locus iste” and “Osjusti” three of the composer’s motets can be experienced in St Jacob’s Church. They are sung by the Zurich Chamber Singers (conductor: Christian Erny), who gained international recognition with their album “Bruckner Spektrum”. From the 19th century, we look forward to the expressive music of Paul Mealor and back to the artful, lively motets of Johann Sebastian Bach. Christian Schmitt, principal organist of the Bamberger Symphoniker, will be at the organ. This renowned German organist was “Artist in Focus” of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich in 2021 and has already performed with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Schmitt has also been a guest of the Friends of the Klosters Organ. You can look forward to his interpretation of Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in E flat major BWV 552 and the well-known Toccata in D minor BWV 565.
The Zurich Chamber Singers will be singing at the front of the stage.
