LA CETRA BAROCKORCHESTER BASEL
A queen, a sorceress and a general’s daughter – Cleopatra, Armida and Almirena are heroines from George Frideric Handel’s operas. They show anger in the aria “Furie terribile”, despair in “Se pietà di me non senti” and tearful grief in “Lascia ch’io pianga”, one of the most famous and moving opera arias ever written. The young Swiss soprano Chelsea Zurflüh, winner of the first prize of the Concours de Genève and winner of the SWR Junge Opernstars 2025 competition, delves into the souls of these extraordinary women and transforms their emotions into music with her expressive voice and enormous range. The La Cetra Baroque Orchestra Basel under Maurice Steger will accompany her and will itself set strong musical accents with Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No. 4” and recorder concertos, in which Steger can be heard as a virtuoso soloist.
Written advance ticket reservations will be accepted from December 5. Online ticket sales at klosters-music.ch and through the tourist offices in Klosters and Davos will open on March 1, 2026.
