BRYN TERFEL, BARITONE
HANNAH STONE, HARP
ANNABEL THWAITE, PIANO
ZÜRCHER SING-AKADEMIE
On the musical theatre stage, he is known as a powerful-voiced, charismatic villain, such as the scheming Iago in Giuseppe Verdi’s “Otello”, the cruel head of the police Scarpia in Giacomo Puccini’s “Tosca”, or the diabolical barber Sweeney Todd in Stephen Sondheim’s musical of the same name. Bryn Terfel transforms operatic characters into compelling, psychologically complex figures. The bass-baritone is also a true master singer when it comes to art songs. And when Terfel interprets folk songs from his Welsh homeland, as on his latest album “Sea Songs”, he strikes a chord that touches the heart. At his concert evening in Klosters, Bryn Terfel will showcase his entire musical range – from operas to musicals, from art songs to folk songs. Together with his wife Hannah Stone on the harp, pianist Annabel Thwaite and the Zürcher Sing-Akademie, the musical accompaniment may change throughout the evening, but the drama and intensity remains!
