THE TOWN MUSICIANS OF BREMENFAMILY CONCERT
A donkey who can no longer carry sacks of flour meets an old dog. An elderly cat joins forces with a rooster who is destined to end up in the soup pot. The four ageing, unwanted animals are not doing well. So they flee from the evil humans to become town musicians in Bremen. Swiss composer Franz Tischhauer has turned the Brothers Grimm fairy tale into a lively musical story about friendship and how to work together to escape from a predicament. With bassoon (donkey), clarinet (dog), oboe (cat), flute (rooster) and a piano for the robbers, whom the four drive out of their house with courage and cunning, members of the Basel Chamber Orchestra become The Town Musicians of Bremen. Musical director Mathias Weibel will bring the children right into the heart of the action at this family concert. Will they be allowed to meow? In any case, after the adventure is over, there will be a free ice cream for every child.
