For health reasons, Miloš Karadaglić is unfortunately obliged to cancel the concert “Echoes of the Guitar” scheduled for 5 August. We are pleased to present an equally high-calibre replacement programme, devised by Artistic Director David Whelton:

Intimate melodies meet richly-textured orchestral passages, with the instruments engaging one another as true equals. Under the title “Sweeping grandeur”, two icons of the piano trio repertoire are brought together: Franz Schubert’s Piano Trio No. 1 in B-flat major and Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Archduke Trio” share not only the same key, but also a similar breadth of scale and expression. Chamber music of the highest order, written to speak to a wide audience. At this concert in St. Jakob’s Church, Klosters, the young cello player Julia Hagen will be appearing for the first time alongside Rainer Honeck, the veteran concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic. The two first met two years ago, when Julia Hagen, winner of the “UBS Young Artist Award”, made her debut with this world-renowned orchestra at the Lucerne Festival in the KKL.  The pianist Herbert Schuch, an accomplished and highly regarded chamber musician, completes this exceptional ensemble, bringing together three generations of outstanding musical personalities.
