Music comes out of silence – and returns to silence, says Sir András Schiff.
The exceptional pianist is an oasis of calm in the noisy hustle and bustle of the world. He does not have to stand out in order to be heard. His interpretations do not seek outward splendour, but the core of the whole. His piano recitals are invitations to his audience to follow him in his interpretations. What he will play remains for now a secret. He not only speaks through the music, but also explains in concert why he has chosen a particular work and what he associates with it. It is no coincidence that Sir András Schiff traditionally shows his piano art in the last concert of Klosters Music. The festival does not end with kettledrums and trumpets, but with inner contemplation and a very personal musical experience.
