Thomas Hampson (baritone), Janoska Ensemble
Thomas Hampson is known as a charismatic opera singer and a profound interpreter of song. The American baritone has set standards with his vocal artistry. At his debut in Klosters on Swiss National Day, the international star will perform songs and jazz standards from the Great American Songbook such as George Gershwin’s “Fascinating Rhythm”, Cole Porter’s “Night and Day” and Harold Arlen’s “Over the Rainbow”. The evening will be a “musical stroll into the realms of the light American muse. Songs that should be heard over and over again. It is a great pleasure for me to sing them with the Janoska Ensemble,” says Hampson. The four members of the Janoska Ensemble are also classically trained. However, this special band has become known for its improvisation skills and virtuoso border-crossing in the inimitable Janoska style.
