The Roman general Coriolanus, a war hero, in the end throws himself on his own sword, which brings Ludwig van Beethoven’s dramatic overture to a very quiet close. Admiral Nelson, on the other hand, triumphs over the French in the naval battle of Aboukir Bay and is celebrated by Joseph Haydn with trumpet fanfares in his “Nelson” Mass. Klosters Music 2025 begins with a powerful opening. And Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s popular Symphony in G minor K. 550 is also full of strong emotion and vibrant colours. Under conductor Enrico Onofri, the Munich Chamber Orchestra will perform these gripping masterpieces and have everyone on the edge of their seats. Following the Bavarian Radio Choir in 2023 (“The Creation”), the Zurich Sing-Akademie will be another top choir coming to Klosters, whose great flexibility and musical excellence will give this opening concert a very special touch.
