Exclusive insights into the life and work of Gene Kelly. In addition to his time in Klosters, Kelly’s last wife Patricia also sheds light on the background to the film “Singin’ in the Rain” and talks about how she wants to preserve his legacy for future generations.
At 7 pm: Timeless musical film with Gene Kelly on big screen with live music by Nacio Herb Brown
Greta Garbo, Paul Newman and Gregory Peck have already been guests in Klosters. Gene Kelly even danced on the tables of the hotel bar in the Chesa Grischuna. In his most famous musical film “Singin’ in the Rain” from 1952, the Hollywood star tap-danced in the rain – and straight into the heart of the international cinema fan community. Following the huge success of “Cinema Paradiso” on the big screen at the 2021 festival, the 70-strong City Light Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Anthony Gabriele, will provide the live, perfectly tuned soundtrack to “Singin‘ in the Rain” this year. And it accompanies his first “talkie” and a turbulent love story. Glitter and glamour move into the Arena Klosters. The tranquil holiday town in the Alps once again becomes “Hollywood on the Rocks”, as it was in the 50s!
